Lakme Fashion Week 2013 W/F – Day 4 Indian Textile Day
Hey Magnifico’s :)
So finally I’m blogging on the glamorous extravaganza “The Lakme Fashion Week 2013 W/F”. I was happy, glad, eager, excited and definitely nervous to attend the fashion festive for the first time and all Thanks to sweetie Jazz (Jasmine) :) as she invited me to be witness the event LIVE ! <3
What: Lakme Fashion Week 2013 W/F
When: 26th August 2013
Where: Grand Hyatt Mumbai, Santacruz East
I arrived to the scene an hour before the time allotted to me (Just to make sure I don’t miss anything & I mean ANYTHING of the glam affair ;)). I entered into the mammoth “Grand Hyatt” and was seized by the lovely ambience. I wasn’t going to miss out onto taking full advantage of the pleasant ambience and beautiful weather – I started clicking pictures and literally demanded my bro :D to click my pictures for an OOTD post which I blogged HERE.
Minutes later, the rain gods served their blessing and we had to run seeking for cover (The moment when I felt throwing those heels out of the window ;)). We ended our Milkha like sprint at a tent like structure next to the 5 star – The tent was nothing but a house filled with creative minds and topmost fashion trends called “The Source”. It had 80-90 stalls treating your eyes up and close with the designer collections that were flaunted on the ramp by the beautiful models. It also accommodated Lakme Salon & Fashion Café.
I was paused on taking pictures inside the source stalls so could only come out with a picture of their Lakme Salon.
By the time we took a glance inside the source at all the collection on display – The rain gods on outside had shown some mercy and we managed to creep to the main venue area inside the hotel.
I met Jazz at the entrance and she warmly greeted me and knowledge us that all the shows of the day were dedicated to the Indian craftsmanship and named it as “Indian Textile Day”
I entered main show area and I was captivated by the atmosphere inside the arena – I was simply amazing and a nervous soul in me lingered as the curtains on the first show of the day was about to raise ;)

Maharashtra State Handlooms Corp Ltd. Presents PINNACLE – Shruti Sancheti & Soumitra Mondal
About the Designers:
The show kicked off with a lovely Maharashtrian flavor – Lavani on remix version of few Marathi numbers – I totally loved the feel and it really started on a real high note.
Shruti Sancheti’s collection “SAAJ” was a beautiful mixture of warm colors like bright reds, orange and yellows with color gold adding the festive essence that perfectly justifies Maharashtrian flavor.
Juhi Chawla walking on ramp in Maharashtrian avatar triggered the show to a complete new level (She looks Drop Dead Gorgeous !! :*)
The show continued this time offering with creation from Soumitra Mondal. His collection named “MARG” characterized Traditional zest in dark colors such as black, grey and maroon with hints of yellows.
Post first show, I went to take a tour of the Lakme Absolute Pro-stylist Lounge – But it had the Gen-Next designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee interview lined up – I was able to sneak glimpses of the great man
Post his interview, I explored the lounge (I wish I could grab them all and come home with the amazing Lakme Royal collection by Sabyasachi ;))
Let’s take a virtual tour :)
Time: 4.30 PM
Gaurang – Shravan Kumar – Ritika by Vivek Kumar
About the Designers:
This one was bound to provide Gujrati smack ;) as it kick started with Gujrati folk music and Garba.
Gaurang Shah label “GAURANG” portrayed full on Gujrati tadka with elegant traditional sarees and jodhpuris.
Kirron Kher flaunted a lovely saree that defined the GAURANG collection in a single walk down the ramp ;)
Shravan Kumar collection was in true sense eye candy for me as I’m a huge fan of teaming up pink with grey and his collection exhibited the same color combo in classy sarees and anarkalis suits.
The beautiful Shriya Saran was the show stopper for Shravan Kumar collection and she was looking hot and elegant and dazzled the ramp.
This show provided an OOPS moment when one of the model did a Cinderella – Her stiletto came off while her ramp walk but hats off to her as she went ahead in same elegance and class showing no signs of nervousness.
Vivek Kumar collection “RITIKA” was lined up next – His collection was combination of garments and accessories which brought lots of bling and glitter onto the ramp.
Sadly I couldn’t come up with photos on his show as I missed my zooming lens at home :( – I thought of enjoying the show for a change and let my DSLR some breathing time ;)
On conclusion of this show, I was drawn by Jazz to the backstage – Guess what girls ? I was lined up for a make-over by none other than Lakme makeup expert Clint Fernandes !! Woah – I was soo excited and nervous at the same time ;). It was a video tutorial and I will be providing the link later.
I was on top of the world and a Happy Soul ;) as I made my way back to catch up the last show of the evening FOR ME as I was leaving early :(

Manipur Handlooms in collaboration with Krishna Mehta
About the Designers:
As they say save the best for the last – The quote came to life in my case ;). The last show I witness was my personal favorite and I totally loved it :)
It started with a divine flute tune and it was no stopping from there – The music was one of the strong point that took the show up a notch higher. I was mesmerized with delightful collection on show – Bright Pinks – Purples – Reds offered a treat to my eyes. I wish ! I could have provided pictures with that kind of amazing music in background – that would have ended this blog post on high just like the show ;)
It was time to say Sayonara but trust me I had no such intention (Blame stupid office early morning next day .. Arrgghh !!). Girls will be Girls – I wasn’t leaving until I click few more pictures for my memories.
Hugs and Kisses to Jazz and I bid adieu to the spectacular affair – It was amazing and had loads of fun – Honestly, I experienced time of my life :) *All Smiles*
